Last
Sunday, 25 to 30 shooters got together at Westside Sporting Clays to
give Darrell and Glenda Humphries a "Going Away" party.
The Humphries are moving to the Knoxville, TN area because Glenda has
been transferred. We're all sure going to miss seeing their faces
Always looking for
another good reason to shoot a round of sporting clays, what could
be a better send off than a casual tournament in their honor.
Somewhat hastily
arranged, trophies for the shoot were not considered, but my wife,
Cindy, bought two chocolate bunnies: one for HOA Gentleman and one for
HOA Lady.

I
volunteered to cook for the group and, because I was more concerned with
cooking than shooting, I quickly shot the course and got back to cooking
the meatballs, sausage, and chicken cacciatore. Don't let the last
name, Barton, fool you. My mom's maiden name is
Cappazucca. Now THAT'S Italian!
Low and behold, I win the
shoot and therefore the coveted chocolate Easter Bunny Trophy.
Getting home late and
unloading the truck, the coveted trophy was placed on the kitchen table
before going to its rightful place in the trophy room. Being
preoccupied with unloading the truck, I had no idea that Clay and Reed
(our two boys) would find what they thought was "just another
chocolate rabbit"!
The next morning I
searched for my trophy and all I found was a chocolate bunny carcass.
The only thing left was the head!
Hey, what the heck.
I'll send the head to the taxidermist and have him put it on a plaque so
I can stick it on the wall next to the deer head.
Good Luck, Darrell and
Glenda, on your new life in Tennesee.
