Thanks to all of the shooters who attended. Some of the 5-Stand
presentations were technical and testy and you all rose to the occasion
nicely. We had some new sporting clays shooters who braved the
tournament level presentations and said they will be back for more. We
really did serve swamp cabbage, as a side dish with lunch. It was made
for us by Mari Grosse according to a traditional Myakka City recipe. It
was really quite good. Thanks Mari. And there was also decadent
chocolate cake made and served by my wife, Elizabeth Wilson. Wow, that
was really good too. Thanks Elizabeth.
Our next registered shoots are only two weeks away on Sunday July 12th.
This will be a 50 Bird FITASC shoot (mandatory low gun) with certified
referees and a 50 Bird Sporting Clays tournament over 6 stations. You
can shoot one event or both. (Both is better :)) The cost of each
tournament is $30 plus tax for one, or $60 plus tax for both. Juniors
and Sub-Juniors are $22.50 plus tax for one or $45.00 plus tax for both.
You can call the club to get pre-squadded for the FITASC event and to
reserve a cart. 941-488-3223.
If you have never shot FITASC before and would like to try it before
jumping into a tournament, we will have a Parcours set up for practice
beginning this Wednesday evening, with a knowledgeable FITASC referee
available for any questions on Wednesday evening. We are also planning a
couple of "Introduction to FITASC" sessions so that newcomers can try
it. Contact Mark Wilson or Chris Head to get started. Also the
Wednesday evening Combination Fun Shoot is going to incorporate 25
FITASC targets into their format. It had previously been 25 skeet, 25
wobble trap and 25 5-Stand. These Wednesday evening shoots get going
about 4:30 or 5:00 p.m. weather permitting and are coordinated by Norm
Beckman.
Once again thanks to all the shooters.
Look forward to seeing you at the July shoots.
Mark Wilson
