As Azam's idea for a fundraiser grew quickly from one post to a long thread of donations and participation, we soon realized this was not going to be a small charity shoot with a raffle.  Each and every one of the calls to well known names in the industry resulted in donations of products for the auction, or their own time and labor to help during the event.  Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, and those in the oilfield industry, all said they would get the word out to their people about participating the event.

Six clubs contacted Azam.  All were willing to host the event.  This decision was going to have to be made purely on the basis of who could do the best job under these very specific circumstances.  And, one of the circumstances was that Azam wanted almost everything for FREE!  The other issue being, let's have it on a date that impacts as few clubs as possible since this shoot will draw people away from other clubs having an event on the same day.  That meant having the shoot relatively quickly.  Looking at the calendars, only a couple possible weekends looked good.

Now it boiled down to just a few clubs.  Realizing we are going to need the flexibility of a club to set the number of courses to accommodate the as of now unknown number of shooters, plus have the space to throw a 50 target 5-Stand, plus have room for plenty of fun games, plus have the space for practice fields, plus have the space to eat lunch and hold an auction for hundreds of people, plus have the parking, phew.... the answer was American Shooting Centers.  This allows us to have a shoot of six hundred, even more.

American Shooting Centers is charging us a very, very, very nominal fee and calling the difference between that and a realistic fee, their donation to the cause.  The date they had was Superbowl Sunday.  But, Azam was concerned that some out-of-town people wouldn't stay for the auction, and would instead, shoot and leave in time to get back to their Superbowl parties.  Not to worry, Pecan Meadow came through and graciously offered to swap days with American.  So the Tsunami Fundraiser will be on Saturday, Feb. 5th.  For you out-of-towners, you'll have the option to make it a great weekend of shooting with another great shoot at Pecan Meadow on Sunday, Feb. 6th leaving you enough time to get back for your Superbowl parties.

Come on out and have a good time, with good friends, for a noble cause.  And, at the same time, we'll let everyone in the media see what we already know about us 'gun toting' hunters, and competition shooters.  Let them see we are all about family, and caring for other families in distress.
