FREE: Celebration in the Oaks - 12/18/04

In keeping with the Holiday Spirit, High Point Shooting Grounds in New Orleans hosted their Annual Celebration in the Oaks Shoot on December 18 and this time, to Celebrate the Holidays for our Shooters, it was FREE*

120 Bird (registered) tournament over 20 stations

FREE* to first 50 shooters!!!!
Yep, Free* other wise $100

* Free provided the Shooter brought a Christmas present to be exchanged with another shooter. Gift had a retail value of at least $50 and were shooting related. No used items, and gift exchanges were done by a fun, random drawing.

* Each shooter provided a food dish, or equal, for all.

Party went fine........, lots, lots and lots of delicious food and drink. I think everyone brought their speciality and then some.  Presents ranged from Cases of Ammo to full sized traveling gun cases and everything between.

As for the Shoot,  we had 20 stations, usual 120 targets for High Point. Royce Murphy won with a 107.  Great score for only shooting 6 birds per station and over half had two machines.  There were double battues, double rabbits in the air, double rabbits in woods, lots of true pairs, so there wasn't any time to get in sync on any particular presentation.

Then, after the Tournament and the Brunch (more like a King's feast) everyone was invited to go back to shoot the Tournament, any station, our Fitasc Parcours, the Compak course or 5 Stand for as long as they wanted at NO CHARGE.

Only complaints were "my shoulder hurts for the first time" and "damn, I have to leave to be home"........We wore Bob out loading machinesIt was comical watching 3 or 4 shooters attempting to hit the 90' tower set over 60-70 yd's out, shooting at the same time, like a flurry..."yours truly" missed it regularly just like all the rest.

Thank you for all your calls and emails following the shoot expressing your enjoyment and thanking High Point for putting on the shoot. [Don Vallee]
